Substantial Extension and Renovation Works to Existing Dwelling

The Craigs Rathmullan

This was a classic flat roofed dwelling built in the 60’s which had deteriorated into a substantial state of disrepair.

The brief from the client was to create a contemporary home finished to an exemplary standard bringing in the maximum amount of sun / natural light maintaining the sea view, whilst remaining true to the original design. An increase in living and bedroom accommodation was needed.

The dwelling was completely gutted with a new extension constructed to the rear to accommodate bedroom accommodation, utility, bathroom and new entrance. The kitchen / dining was enlarged with new corner glazing. Large light lanterns were introduced in the flat roof above throughout the dwelling to maximise natural light. The remainder of the house was reconfigured with the dark / damp basement transformed into a games / cinema room.

A new garage was constructed with a new vehicular entrance constructed with the driveway and dwelling entry re-orientated to the south side of the dwelling.
